Frequent Flatulence - What Causes Frequent Flatulence?

1. Flatulence is more than just wind. People who suffer from frequent flatulence will sometimes be concerned that it is a matter for medical attention, while others will be too scared to even go and see the doctor for fear of what he might say, or because they think it is a laughable condition. Nevertheless, sometimes you have to listen to what your stomach is telling you. Even if it is something you don't want to hear, you'll be the better for hearing it. you may just have a lot of flatulence because you aren't eating the right things, or it might be something else. But it is better to know.

2. When Your Diet Causes Frequent Flatulence

When we are young, we can pretty much eat what we want, and somehow the calories bounce off us - most of us know a high school athlete who eats frankly fatty food and still wins every race he ever enters. But as we get older, we need to keep more of an eye on things. While at college we may be able to bulldoze a plate of hot dogs and a crate of beer - and laugh at the frequent flatulence - we will have to accept sooner or later that it is not something we can keep doing indefinitely. As we get older, frequent flatulence becomes less funny and more worrying.

3. The important thing to remember about a balanced diet is that balance does not mean living like a monk - but it also does not mean eating like a pig. Frequent flatulence is one of our body's early warning signs. If we are eating all the wrong things then a digestive system will send out an alarm call. We can think ourselves lucky if that alarm call is an embarrassing and ill-timed burst of wind. But the more frequent flatulence becomes, the more we have to pay attention to what it is trying to tell us. Sooner or later, it could be telling us it's time we saw a doctor.

4. Reading The Signs

There can be very few people alive who have not occasionally broken wind. It is a natural by-product of any diet. It is not just the processed food and fizzy drink that makes us have flatulence. Beans, sprouts and other foods can generate it as well. The frequent flatulence caused by eating these foods is generally less problematic than that caused by processed foods - but it is still a warning sign that we may be overdoing the one food.

5. A food diary is a sound response to frequent flatulence. It may seem a little bit juvenile to keep a record of flatulence, but if you can compare the frequency of flatulence with the foods you are eating you can then see whether it is a matter that can be fixed simply by a change in diet - or a condition that may need more specific attention. While some people may find frequent flatulence to be a cause for amusement, you need to take it seriously - because digestive problems are not funny at all.
